You can use AdBlock's resource page to see all the requests a website makes and how AdBlock deals with them. You can also use it to create exceptions, filters that customize what resources AdBlock blocks or hides. A resource is anything a web page asks to download to your browser. It could be an ad, an image, style and formatting instructions, or a piece of website code. The resource page is available in AdBlock for Chrome, AdBlock for Edge, and AdBlock for Firefox.
Creating exceptions can be a little bit tricky, and getting it wrong can make a web page stop working. For these reasons, you need to turn on advanced user mode to see AdBlock's resource page. To turn on advanced user mode:
- Click the AdBlock icon in the browser toolbar and select the gear icon
- On the General tab, select I'm an advanced user, show me advanced options
Show Blocked, Hidden, and Allowlisted Resources
- Right-click on the web page and select Inspect to open the Developer Tools window.
- Click the AdBlock tab in the Developer Tools window. It might be hidden in the overflow menu (>>).
- Reload the web page.
- Use the Show menu to choose what to display. You can show both blocked and allowlisted items or both. You can also limit the results to show only certain types of resources.
- When you're finished, click the "x" in the upper right corner to close the Developer Tools window.

Create a Custom Filter or Exception Rule
As you move your cursor through the list of resources in the Developer Tools window, a Block Item, Add Exception, or Remove Rule bubble appears in the Filter column. Click the bubble that corresponds to what you want to do to that resource:
- To create a custom filter that blocks or hides the resource, click Block Item, then click Add Exception.
- To create a custom filter that allows a blocked resource to download or a hidden resource to appear, click Add Exception.
- To delete a custom filter, click Remove Rule. You can also delete any custom filters you created in AdBlock's options on the Customize tab.
